CHEER PHI SMOOV |
CΦS |
A service organization whose motto is IMAGE IS EVERYTHING!
* University historical files
indicate that the first student organization for cheerleaders was established as Cheer Phi "Unique" in 1972-73 and revised as Cheer Phi "Smoov"--the current name used-- in 1994-95. The organization's constitution was revised on March 18, 1999.* The subtitle of SAPPHIRE is used for members who are selected as alternates.
Since 1999...
The fall of 1999 marked a significant turning point in the identity of the Bronco Cheerleaders. Under the direction of their new Coach and Advisor, LaWanda D. Miller, squad members began to be identified by their tryout number and most outstanding quality stated in their tryout essay. Cheer Phi Smoov adopted a new constitution and a new set of standards. Only two lovely ladies were carried over from the previous year's squad and came to be known as the Founders of the "new" Cheer Phi:
Mesha Cameron, 99-00 Captain |
Shauna Jones, 99-00 Co-Captain |
|
#5 - Respect |
#6 - Style |
The 1999-2000 squad coined themselves as the 'Lovely
Ladies and GQ Fellas of Cheer Phi Smoov' and
brought in cowboy hats, fringed vests, and chaps to exemplify that
"This Ain’t Nothing but A Funky Bronco Show."
The following is a list of this benchmark squad.

Cheer Phi Smoov
2004 - 2005 Members
The year 2004-05 is best known as a year of revitalization. Invigorated by squad captains, the members of the 2004-05 primarily sought to revive and refresh the current Bronco cheerleading program cheers, chants, dances, and stunts. As a result, the 2004-05 squad members became associated with the establishment of the most “firsts” for the Bronco cheerleading program:
· The first to demand attention with the use of the now popular phrase “U See It” FSU · The first to boast that they were the “Best in the CIAA” with black t-shirts and black “Cheerleader” hats to match
The 2004-05 leaders came to own a mark in Cheer Phi Smoov history as “The Renovators”:
Tiffany Butler, 04-05 Captain |
Natasha King, 04-05 Co-Captain |
|
#31 - Discipline |
#12 - Knowledge |
Nine new members pledged to support the whole school and uphold the new standard of cheerleading excellence at Fayetteville State University in 2004-05. These nine new members called themselves “THE FINE NINE” and, in line with this year full of squad “firsts,” were the first group to put on a full show in honor of their Cheer Phi history and to thank their mentors and head coach/advisor.
