Mission

The mission of the Volunteer Services Program is to promote civic responsibility by encouraging student involvement in meaningful and reciprocal service to the community.

The Volunteer Services Program has three primary goals:

§  Increase student volunteerism at Fayetteville State University

§  Connect students with volunteer opportunities that align with their professional and personal goals

§  Maintain a growing database of volunteer opportunities in the Fayetteville/Cumberland county area

The Volunteer Services Program will serve as a liaison between local agencies and Fayetteville State University students. The volunteer needs of each agency will be determined and every effort will be made to match campus groups/individuals with the appropriate agency based on need and interest.

Specific Goals:

§  Recruit new volunteers 

§  Establish partnerships between community agencies and campus groups that will in turn encourage long-term relationships

§  Maintain up-to-date databases of community agencies and student volunteers

§  Track the effectiveness of partnerships between campus groups and community agencies

§  Track student volunteer service hours

§  Consistently seek new opportunities and community agencies/organizations for volunteer activities
