Fayetteville State University – Computer Science Faculty Position
The Department of Mathematics and Computer Science at Fayetteville State University invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position in Computer Science starting August 2009 (pending funding). Fayetteville State University is a constituent institution of the University of North Carolina and the second-oldest public institution of higher education in the state. Founded in 1867 as the Howard School for the education of African Americans, today FSU serves a growing student body of over 6,500 and ranks among the nation's most diverse campus communities.
The Department of Mathematics and Computer Science offers programs leading to the degrees of Bachelor of Science in Computer Science, Bachelor of Science in Mathematics, Bachelor of Science in Mathematics-Secondary Education, Master of Science in Mathematics and Master of Science in Teaching Mathematics (in conjunction with the School of Education in the university).
Applicants should have a PhD in Computer Science or a closely related field. ABDs may apply, but they are expected to have their doctorate completed before August 2009. The successful candidate will have a strong background in computer science, a strong commitment to teaching, the ability to teach computer science at all levels, and effective communication and interpersonal skills. The responsibilities of faculty include teaching a wide variety of undergraduate courses in computer science, research and publication, and service to the university and to the community. Candidates with an interest in networking or game programming are especially encouraged to apply. Salary and rank are negotiable and commensurate with qualifications and experience.
