STUDENTS COMPETE
FOR
THE TITLE OF MISS FSU
Fayetteville, NC --- The Eighth Annual Miss Fayetteville State
University Scholarship Pageant will be held on Saturday, April 17, 1999 at 7:30 pm in the
Felton J. Capel Arena on the campus of FSU. This years pageant, "Odyssey 2000:
Countdown to the Millennium," promises to be exciting and entertaining.
Miss Fayetteville State University Rashaunda Ramey,
a Junior from Raleigh, North Carolina, will relinquish her crown to one of the fourteen
beautiful, intelligent, poised and articulate young ladies competing to be the first Miss
FSU of the next millennium. The 1999 contestants vying for
the coveted title are: Regina Locust; Takeisha Robinson; Eddrina Clark; Carmen Nichols; Katrina Mattison; LaShonda Maxfield; Carmen Jackson; LaKeisha Stewart; Lynn Holmes; Monica Jones; Melvenia Gray; Khalilah Love; Gemette Cox; and Sherri Morrisey.
To be eligible to compete in the pageant, each contestant must possess a
high scholastic average and be in good standing with the University. The contestants will
compete in five categories: interview, sportswear, talent, evening gown, and the student
vote.
Tameka Kenan and Rodgery Woods, will serve as the mistress and masters of
ceremonies for the pageant. Kenan, a radio personality with WZFX 99.1 and a feature writer
with the Fayetteville Observer Times Saturday Extra, and Woods, a radio personality with
WFSB 98.5, are both FSU students. This marks the first time that FSU students will serve
in this capacity.
As in previous years, the opening number which will feature the reigning
queen, the contestants, and pageant dancers, is sure to be a crowd pleaser. A host of
exciting entertainment will also be showcased throughout the evening.
