Eight Young Women Compete for the Title of Miss Fayetteville State University
Fayetteville, NC, April 2, 2001 - The Tenth Annual Miss Fayetteville State University Scholarship
Pageant will be held on Saturday, April 21, 2001 at 8:00pm in FSU's Felton J. Capel Arena. This
year's pageant promises to be entertaining and exciting!
Miss Fayetteville State University, Dionne Gilmore, a senior from Boston, Massachusetts, will
relinquish her crown to one of the eight articulate, beautiful, and poised young women competing to be
the next Miss FSU. The contestants vying for the coveted 2001 crown are: Lauren Christian,
Natesha Daniels, LaKeshia Denson, Tai Irby, Angala Scott, Ebony Singleton, Nichelle
Sullivan, and Colette Thompson.
To be eligible to compete in the pageant, each contestant must possess a high scholastic
average and be in good standing with the university. The contestants will compete in five categories:
interview, sportswear, talent, evening gown, and student vote.
Gayle Nelson and Ricardo Morgan will serve as the mistress and master of ceremonies of the
pageant. Nelson is a local on-air personality; Morgan is an FSU alumnus and educator.
As in previous years, the crowd-pleasing opening number will feature the reigning queen, the
contestants, and pageant dancers. A host of exciting entertainment will also be showcased throughout
the evening.
