Visitation Policy for 2007

 

Infants, Children and Teenagers (non-adult, underage visitors)

 

  1. Infants and toddlers are not permitted to visit with-in any residential facility.  Children under age fourteen (14) are only allowed to visit in first floor common lobby areas.   Only persons 18 years and older are allowed to visit beyond the first floor common lobby areas. 

 

 

Non-Building Residents (people who do not live in the same hall)

 

  1. Non-building residents (regardless of gender) are not permitted with-in any hall after 2am. *Unless they have an overnight pass to stay with a resident (same gender only).   

 

Internal Building Residents (as Visitors) (people who live in the same hall but different rooms)

 

  1. Same sex internal building residents do not have to sign-in to visit other residents in their same respective facility; however, after mid-night “non-room” residents are expected to leave, unless there is mutual consent amongst room-mates*.  A room-mate agreement must be signed concerning this action.  

 

Overnight Guest as Visitors (campus and non-campus residents’ policy)

 

  1. Overnight visitation is limited to one same-sex guest at a time.  Overnight guest request must be submitted to the Residence Hall Director at least three (3) days in advance and requires that the guest have valid ID and contact information.  Such request must have both room-mates consent and the visit cannot extend beyond a three-day period.  Written approval must be obtained from a Residence Life Official before guests make plans to attend.  There is a maximum of two (2) overnight guest requests per semester per resident per semester.  

 

Co-ed Visitation Policy (opposite sex guest visitation)

 

  1. Students with outstanding disciplinary sanctions or Residence Life charges are ineligible for Co-ed visitation, until such items are resolved.

 

  1. Each student is allowed to have a maximum of ONE guest at a time.

 

  1. Each guest must be signed in properly at the front desk to receive a “Guest Pass”.

 

  1. Each guest must present a recent, valid picture identification card (driver’s license, school or military ID, etc).  ID’s must be left at the front desk during the time of the visit, and retrieved at the end of the visit. In the event that a guest presents a valid driver’s license that does not have picture, the guest must submit a second type of identification.

 

  1. Co-ed visitation hours for Upperclassmen students are Monday through Sunday: 2:00pm – 2:00am.   Guest must be signed in at midnight or before.  These hours are subject to change.

 

  1. Upperclassmen students who reside in predominantly freshmen facilities have limited visitation hours in their rooms (Residence Directors will specify the days, times and hours).

 

  1. First-Time Freshmen students do not generally have co-ed visitation privileges during the first month of the Fall academic semester; Afterwards, their visitation hours will be Monday through Sunday 2pm-11:45pm. 

 

Rules that apply to ALL forms of visitation

 

  1. Students are responsible for all rules and regulations described by the Office of Residence Life/Division of Student Affairs.

 

  1. A “Party Atmosphere” is strictly prohibited. “Party Atmosphere” can be described as but is not limited to: loud music or videos, illegal substances or beverages, illegal guest, excessive rotation of guest, more than (4) people (male or female) in one room or more than 8 guest in a suite/apartment at one time. The Residence Hall Director determines which situations are to be described as “Party Atmosphere”.

 

  1. The resident must accompany each guest at all times.  Any guest found unattended will be escorted out of the room/building and face possible future restrictions.  Residents assume 100% responsibility for guest they sign in or give access to their rooms.

 

 

  1. Any resident who has an unattended/illegal /unapproved guest will be subject to:

 

a.                   loss of visitation privileges

b.                   fines or sanctions imposed

c.                   possible contract reassignment or termination

d.                   other disciplinary action as needed      

 

  1. Roommates are also required to fill out a Roommate to Roommate Form and thoroughly discuss their views regarding “in room” co-ed visitation.

 

  1. This Visitation Policy must be read and signed by all roommates before visitation begins. 

 

I have read and agree to abide by all of the rules listed above.  I am also familiar with the information in the Student Code of Conduct and Residence Hall Contract, and have agreed to abide by the rules and regulations.  I understand that visitation is a privilege afforded to me and is not a guaranteed right of “residential living”.
