Placement Criteria
University College makes every effort to place students in courses that correspond to their level of academic preparation. Advisors use high school Grade Point Average (GPA), SAT scores, and scores on the Profile placement examination (administered during First Steps) as criteria. Reading

| SAT – Verbal Score = 420 or higher OR Reading Profile score = 63 or higher |
Freshman Seminar class without reading skills session; meets two hours each week. |

MATH 131 – Algebra and Trigonometry Primarily for math, computer science, and science majors |

MATH 129, Pre-Calculus I – For math, computer science, biology, and chemistry majors. MATH 129-130, with grades of C or better in both classes, is equivalent to MATH 131 |
