BIOGRAPHY

Dr. Abdirahman ABOKOR is an Associate Professor of physics in the Department of Chemistry and Physics at Fayetteville State University. He teaches introductory level physics courses (both calculus-based and algebra-based), intermediate level physics courses (such as classical mechanics, equilibrium thermodynamics, modern physics, and electromagnetism), and physical sciences course for non-science majors. He is a member of Few Body Systems. He is a former member of the American Physical Society. Dr. Abokor received the Department of Natural Sciences (from which the Department of Chemistry and Physics is split) 2003-2004 Teacher of Year Award and the Department of Chemistry and Physics 2017-2018 Teacher of Year Award .    

  Dr. Abokor received his B.S. Degree in Physics (with a minor in mathematics) in 1981. He received his M.S. degree in Physics from Howard University, and his Ph.D. degree from Texas Tech University. Dr. Abokor's research interest is in the area of computational nuclear form factors and Monte Carlo Simulations. Dr. Abokor was tenured in 2005 and is currently an Associate Professor at Fayetteville State University.


RESESRCH INTEREST

Theoretical nuclear structure, particularly the hadron-quark hybrid model and the structure of light nuclei using wave functions derived from realistic potentials.
