"It's a great way to live."
At 6’8”, Brandon Halligan could pass for your average NBA star. In fact, a basketball career was once on his mind. Now, however, Brandon has a different future mapped out, and it’s anything but average. He plans to dedicate 25 years to serving his country in the US Armed Forces and the rest of his career to teaching.
At FSU, he’s getting all the preparation he needs. A degree in education. Military training through ROTC. A sense of brotherhood and personal integrity as a member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity. “We value uplifting others and serving as role models for upcoming generations. It’s a great way to live.”
Brandon, who will be the first in his family to graduate from college, displays a confident resolve to achieve his goals, which include earning his master’s and doctorate degrees. He works 30 hours a week, serves in the National Guard and is even raising a young son. “I consider my education an opportunity to achieve more than those who came before me and to set an example for my son to do the same.”
Brandon Halligan, sophomore Education major. ROTC. Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity. Future: Officer in the US Armed Services.
