Explore Your Opportunities

Explore your opportunities

At Fayetteville State, what you learn in class is important; how you put it to work for your future is the real key. And there, we’ve got you covered. You’ll have access to one-on-one advising and career planning, exciting internships, and many more resources focused on bringing your education to life. We’ll do more than develop your mind. We’ll help you chart a course for a successful future. Faculty and staff are devoted to academic excellence and
to individualizing the student experience. It really is all about you. Just ask our alumni. Their favorable student reviews positioned Fayetteville State as one of only 20 higher education institutions nationwide with exemplary practices, based on results from the National Survey of Student Engagement.

FYI: Freshman Year Initiative

Freshmen ranked FSU faculty higher than the national average on all measures of engagement in the learning process. That explains why our Freshman Year Initiative program has received national awards. New students form a critical alliance with a faculty
advisor, meeting on a weekly basis. As a result, you’re given a support system that fosters success and we are in tune to your personal needs and expectations.

Academic Advising

At FSU, our exceptional advising services are what you’d expect: expert assistance with study skills, course selection guidance, and caring people who invest in your future as if it’s their own. But they are also much more than you might expect. We focus on a wider
range of goals that takes into account not only academics, but also personal challenges you may be facing as well as career and life planning.

Honors Scholars

The most academically accomplished students are given the opportunity to stretch the boundaries of their imaginations and potential. As an Honors Scholar, you’ll be part of a close-knit community of learners with unique privileges and responsibilities that allow you to give back to the community in greater capacities.

Career Services/Job Location and Development Program

Test-drive a career. Write a winning re’sume’ and cover letter. Nail your job interview. Career development is a lifelong process of exploration and decision-making; that’s why the Career Services staff will help you locate employment and hone your professional skills while you are a student and even after you graduate.

Cooperative Education and Internship Programs

When a prospective employer asks if you have experience, you can answer with a confident “Yes, I do!” Co-ops, internships, and service-learning opportunities are all available to you at FSU. Integrate classroom learning with valuable on-the-job experience in places like the FBI, Walt Disney, Black Enterprise Magazine, The White House, and Habitat for Humanity.

Disability Services

FSU offers Student Support Services for students who are low-income, first-generation college students, and disabled. We recognize that disabled students face unique challenges, but we also believe you can achieve unique successes as well. FSU is
committed to helping you reach your goals through educational support and activities that enhance academic skills and improve retention and graduation rates.
