"We are always exploring new resources."
In Room 129 of the Continuing Education Center, you’ll find the Teaching and Learning Center (TLC) along with its director, Dr. Peter Valenti. “An important part of teaching is advancing your own knowledge. FSU has a very dedicated staff whose primary interest is helping students perform at their highest level,” says Dr. Valenti. And he would know. He’s been with the university for more than 30 years, first as an English professor and department chair, then in the Provost’s office and now in the TLC.
“Given my background, it’s a job I’ve been preparing for all of my life. I get to put into practice all of the ideas and experiences I have been generating over the years to engage students in learning and support teachers in their mission.”
The TLC works to stay “up-to-the-minute” with teaching and learning techniques and state-of-the-art equipment. This includes the latest technology such as online services that analyze and give feedback on students’ work. “We’re always exploring new resources for teachers and students to be as effective as possible.”
Peter Valenti, Ph.D. TLC Director, FSU professor, department chair and administrator since 1975
