Lieutenant Colonel Ed Pethan is an Army officer with over 26 years of active duty experience. He holds a Bachelor’s Degree from Campbell University and a Master’s Degree from Webster University. Lieutenant Colonel Pethan deployed on four separate tours including Operation Desert Storm (Saudi Arabia-1991), Operation Uphold Democracy (Haiti-1995), Peace Enforcement Operations in Kosovo (Balkans-2001), and most recently Operation Enduring Freedom (Afghanistan-2007-2008). Lieutenant Colonel Pethan has served in various command and staff positions around the world and the United States. He spent nearly 16 years as a Paratrooper in the 82nd Airborne Division, Ft. Bragg, NC.

Lieutenant Colonel Pethan’s military education includes the US Army Field Artillery Officer Basic and Advanced Courses and is a graduate of the US Army Command and General Staff College and the US Army Jumpmaster School. Lieutenant Colonel Pethan is married to the former Linda Clark of Augusta, GA. They have two children; Brittany (25) who is a 2010 graduate of Georgia Tech, and Eric (22) who is a 2012 graduate of the University of South Carolina.

Sergeant First Class (Retired) Duane E. Whitaker enlisted in the United States Army on June of 1984 and attended Basic Training on Tank Hill, Fort Jackson, SC.  Mr. Whitaker moved to Ft. Gordon, GA to attend his Advance Individual Training as a Special Electronic Devices Technician.  In 1988, Mr. Whitaker retrained as a Food Service Specialist.  

Mr. Whitaker served the US Army in varying leadership positions to include Platoon Sergeant to Dining Facility Manager throughout the last twenty years.  He has served his country in numerous locations around the world, to include the 9th Infantry Division, 3rd Armored Division, 3/47th Infantry Division, 1/509th Infantry Battalion (OPFOR), 1/508th Infantry Battalion, 5th Special Forces Group and the 82nd Airborne Division.

Additionally, Mr. Whitaker served two overseas tours within Germany and Italy and three combat tours within Operations Desert Storm, Iraqi and Enduring Freedom.
