The primary mission of the Department of Performing and Fine Arts is to produce graduates that will be leaders and advocates in their respective fields in the performing and fine arts - music, dance, theatre, and visual arts. The Department is also committed to building community through the arts by being a resource for performing and fine arts pedagogy and performance, cultivating a climate where creativity flourishes, engaging the community with the arts, and making the arts accessible to all.
The Department of Performing and Fine Arts at Fayetteville State University is pleased to announce the creation of two new degree programs--BA in Visual Arts and the BA in Music--that will begin with the Fall 2015 semester. Each new degree will have a teaching and non-teaching concentration so students will still have the option to pursue a career in art or music education. The change will affect all incoming Freshman or any returning student that has been out of school for two consecutive semesters. All other students will continue to follow the curriculum for their respective degrees as posted in the 2014-2015 or earlier catalogs. The new degrees will give students more flexibility in choosing a curriculum that meets their career aspirations while being more efficient with resources. The art and music areas are accredited by the National Association for Schools of Art and Design and the National Association for Schools of Music respectively.
FSU Fine Arts Series is sponsored in part by:
