Lecturer of Microbiology


The Department of Biological Sciences at Fayetteville State University invites applications for a one year fixed term position of Lecturer of Microbiology to begin in August 2014. Fayetteville State University is a constituent institution of the University of North Carolina and the second-oldest public institution of higher education in the state. Founded in 1867 as the Howard School for the education of African Americans, today FSU serves a growing student body of approximately 6,000 and ranks among the nation's most diverse campus communities. Fayetteville is located in the scenic Cape Fear River Valley of North Carolina, between the Blue Ridge Mountains and the Atlantic Ocean. Residents of Fayetteville enjoy mild temperatures, four distinct seasons, a low cost of living, and easy access to beautiful Carolina beaches.


The Department of Biological Sciences offers BS degrees in Biology, Biotechnology, Forensic Science, and Biology Secondary Education with approximately 400 majors and an MS degree in Biology. The successful candidate is expected to teach undergraduate courses in Microbiology and General Biology advises students, and serves the department, college, university, and community. Applicants must have a MS degree in Microbiology or a closely related field (PhD preferred). The candidate should also be able to teach online.
