ANNOUNCEMENTS

The Research Initiative for Scientific Enhancement (RISE) Program at Fayetteville State University is funded through a grant from the National Institutes of Health.  The goal of the FSU-RISE Program is to increase the number of well-prepared Biology, Chemistry, and Psychology FSU graduates from underrepresented minority groups who enter graduate programs in the biomedical and behavioral sciences.

The theme of the Sixth Annual FSU-RISE Research Colloquium is “Rising to Meet Tomorrow’s Challenges through Research”.  The program will begin with a plenary lecture.  The plenary lecture will be given by Dr. Erin White, Assistant Professor of Biology at Fayetteville State University.  Following the plenary lecture, there will be a Poster Session where FSU students will present their research and an Exhibitor Session in which representatives from several graduate schools will have exhibits.  Immediately following the morning activities, there will be a luncheon and keynote address.  This year’s luncheon keynote speaker is Dr. Elwood Robinson, Dean of College of Behavioral &. Social Sciences at North Carolina Central University.  The afternoon session will consist of oral presentations by FSU Faculty, describing their ongoing research projects.

The Colloquium will be a joint venture hosted with the FSU Math/Science Education Center.

Please pre-register online by March 1, 2008.  Also, there is a $10 advance registration fee and $15 late registration fee to attend the FSU-RISE Research Colloquium.  The registration fee includes conference materials, continental breakfast, luncheon and access to all sessions.

All activities are open to the public.  On-site registration begins at 8:00 a.m. and the program begins at 8:45 a.m. in the Capel Arena.
