Overview

This program provides candidates with the skills, knowledge and credentials required to successfully begin a career in the fields of Information Technology and Cybersecurity. This program was designed by Fayetteville State University and UMBC Training Centers in collaboration with senior executives and technical staff from the Department of Defense, leading Government Contractors, and Fortune 500 companies

There is a severe shortage of IT professionals with the skills, certifications, and problem solving abilities necessary to meet the nation's Cyber Defense challenge. And this shortage is expected to persist for years. This represents a tremendous career opportunity for motivated individuals with the right skills and certifications.

Here are the top qualifications sought by every organization, large or small:

  • Demonstrable technical skills in Systems Administration and Computer Networking
  • DoD 8570 Certification
  • A recognized IT Industry Certification in systems or networking
  • Strong problem solving abilities and communication skills
  • High level of professionalism and willingness to work hard

To earn the Certificate in Cybersecurity, students must complete four courses:

  • Linux Certified System Administrator (RHCSA and/or Linux+) **
  • Cisco Certified Network Administrator (CCNA)
  • EC-Council Certified Ethical Hacker (CEH)
  • Network & Packet Analysis

To complete the Certificate, students must achieve the CEH certification and either the CCNA or one of the Linux certification (RHCSA or Linux+). In completing the two certifications students will have attained both a DoD 8570 certification and a highly recognized industry technical certification.

Course Cost:  $7,995. Tuition includes course materials, 2 certification exams, and 1 year audit privilege (*restrictions may apply)

Cost Breakdown is as follows:

- Tuition, Books and Materials:  Cisco Certified Network Associate, Certified Ethical Hacker:  $7,300.00

- Certification Exam Fees (Vouchers provided):  Cisco Certified Network Associate ($295); Certified Ethical Hacker ($400).  Total: $695

(VA Approved for GI Bill Benefits) (Workforce Investment Act RESCARE approved - provided individual eligibility requirements are met)

Audience

This program is suitable for individuals seeking to enter the fields of Information Technology and Cybersecurity, or those are already in the field who desire rigorous education and training.

This program prepares students for employment with government agencies, government contractors and commercial enterprises in the Mid-Atlantic region. This Certificate program is offered in response to industry's need for qualified employees with the right certifications and problem solving skills to be effective in system support, computer network operations (CNO) and computer network defense (CND). While Cyber is the primary focus, this program provides excellent preparation for work in any commercial or civilian IT organization.

Prerequisites

Applicants should already have completed our Certificate in Cyber Foundations, or possess equivalent skills and experience.

Schedule

Fayetteville State University and UMBC Training Centers can also schedule daytime or off hours cohort programs for corporations or government agencies, either at Fayetteville State University, UMBC Training Centers, on customer premises, or on-line.
