The mission of the Office of Civic Engagement and Service Learning (CESL) is to support student engagement in civic life and academically based service learning to promote ethical and social responsibility and unversity engagement that provides public service and outreach in compliance with FSU Core Curriculum, FSU Strategic Plan, and UNC Strategic Directions.

Civic Engagement

Civic engagement is acting upon a sense of responsibility to the common good in our communities, including not only our geographic communities, from local to global, but also based on interests or identity.

Service Learning

Service learning is a teaching and learning strategy that integrates meaningful community service with instruction and reflection to enrich the learning experience, teach civic responsibility, and strengthen communities (Learn and Serve America National Clearinghouse). >> Read More
