Chair Welcome Message

Hello and welcome to the Department of Communication, Languages, and Cultures. I'm very excited that you have chosen to explore our department's website. We have an amazing faculty and staff, as well as top-tier studios and learning labs, and I hope you have a chance to stop by for a discussion and tour sometime.

In July 2015, the Department of Communication and the Department of World Languages and Cultures merged to become the newest department at the Fayetteville State University. Both areas have rich histories and successful track records of graduating students who are prepared for graduate study and the career force. By merging, we have combined our strengths, providing additional learning opportunities for our students. We have award-winning faculty who are dedicated to making sure that their students gain the knowledge, expertise, and experience they need to succeed. You will find that our faculty truly enjoy teaching and mentoring students, but also are committed scholars who work hard to remain active in their fields through their research and creative activities.

The Department of Communication, Languages, and Cultures offers the Bachelor of Arts degree in Communication and the Bachelor of Arts degree in Spanish. It also offers minors in Communication, Spanish, and Chinese Language and Culture, and the Spanish Teaching Licensure (K-12) track. We also offer students a chance to participate and gain real-world training and experience by joining one of our student organizations. Students can choose one or several groups, including Bronco-iRadio, The Voice Student Newspaper, Bronco Television, and The Hispanic Club. Spanish majors also have the chance to be inducted into the Spanish Honor Society.

By completing the BA in Communication or the BA in Spanish, students will be prepared to work in any field that they wish as these degrees are highly sought after by companies around the world. We encourage students who have already chosen a primary major to consider a double major or minor with Communication or Spanish.   I encourage you to reach out to us if you have any questions. Any one of us will be happy to talk with you should you have any questions. We are here for you.
