Prior to joining Fayetteville State University, she taught courses in film writing, journalism, network development, and media history at New York University-Tisch School of the Arts, College of the Canyons, National University, and California State University at Northridge.

She also presented guest lectures at George Fox University, The Unity Conference, The Broadcast Education Association, and California State University at San Bernardino.

PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE

As a full time writer and as a freelancer, Skye Dent has written more than a thousand news and magazine articles, broadcast news segments, documentaries, TV drama shows, and films.  As a journalist, she wrote for The Boston Globe, Hartford Courant, AP, CBS Evening News, CBS Morning News, The Oakland Tribune, Documentary Magazine, DirecTV Magazine, Vicus.com health magazine, The Praeger Book of Medicine, The Cape Cod Times, and Root Magazine in London.  She was also a TV writer and/or producer for Star Trek Voyager, The Burning Zone, and Showtime.  She has written a video game for the NIH.  She wrote and/or produced a half dozen documentaries for Discovery Channel and 12 commercials for Paramount/Discovery.  And she was the Unit Publicist on five feature films.  She owns her own independent production company called The Roxbury Projects, which is in the process of developing a romantic comedy film and a sci fi film noir feature.  She also operates a job and intern web site called 482 Productions for students from her classes who graduate.
