PROGRAM OVERVIEW
FSU - NCTeach Program

NCTeach, North Carolina Teachers of Excellence for All Children, is a statewide teacher licensure program administered by the University of North Carolina, in collaboration with the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction. NC TEACH is designed to recruit, prepare, and support mid-career professionals as they begin a teaching career in North Carolina's public schools.

Fayetteville State University offers licensure in English, language arts, mathematics, science, and social studies for the middle grades (6-9) and secondary (9-12) levels as well as Spanish K-12 and Special Education K-12.

FSU - NC TEACH is a non-degree licensure only program

NCTeach is a program designed to provide mid-career college graduates with the opportunity to become teachers especially in high demand areas. The program provides coursework that consists of six modules delivered during the spring, summer, and fall semesters. All participants completing this program are expected to complete the initial licensure requirements at their host sites, adding content area coursework as needed.

The NCTeach curriculum modules focus on the foundations and pedagogy for teacher preparation. These are organized in six strands: 1) the professional role of the teacher, 2) understanding the learner, 3) effective teaching in general, 4) effective teaching in the content area, 5) technology, and 6) the school environment.

FSU - NC TEACH Face to Face (Traditional Classes)

Following an orientation period, the face to face program commences with a Summer Institute, led by FSU faculty and public school master teachers. This period is completed during a five-week, full time summer course designed to orient participants to the profession, build a strong sense of shared purpose, and provide the knowledge and skills critical to effectively performing the duties of a teacher. Classes are held on the campus of Fayetteville State University.
