Fayetteville State
University supports Distance Education. Distance education is any
instructional activity characterized by a separation in time or space between
the student and instructor, or providing instruction for all or part of the
period of study.
The Commission on
Colleges (COC) of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS)
define distance education or distance learning as "that educational process that occurs
when instruction is delivered to students remotely from the main campus, the
location or campus of program origin, or the primary resources that support
instruction. In this process, the requirements for a course or program may
be completed through face-to-face interaction and/or through remote
communications with the instructional and support staff including either one-way
or two-way written, electronic, or other media forms." (SACS, Policies,
p.13).
Please be assured that the
academic department providing online courses will be responsible for
maintaining the same high standards for all courses regardless of the
method of delivery, and for ensuring that distance education instruction is
comparable in quality and content to the on-campus instruction.
