 Dr. Cary Adkinson

Dr. Adkinson studied psychology during his undergraduate career at Southern Methodist University in Dallas, Texas.  From there, he followed his fascination with human behavior and crime to earn a Master’s degree at the University of Texas at Arlington.  He completed his doctoral studies at Sam Houston State University in 2005 and now serves as an assistant professor of criminal justice in the Department of Criminal Justice at Fayetteville State University.

Among his many research interests is the relevance of superhero mythology to the study of crime and justice.  He is currently developing Insight Criminology, a proposal for the study of crime and justice that integrates the latest discoveries of the natural sciences with social science to offer concrete suggestions for how best to study crime and encourage the personal and professional growth of criminal justice students, faculty, and practitioners.
