DEPARTMENT CHAIR POSITION
Fayetteville State University invites application for the position of Chair of the Department of Criminal Justice to begin in August 2010. Fayetteville State University is a constituent institution of the University of North Carolina and the second oldest public institution of higher education in the state. Founded in 1867 as the Howard School for the education of African Americans, today FSU serves a growing student body of nearly 6,000 and ranks among the nation’s most diverse campus communities. Fayetteville is located in the scenic Cape Fear River Valley of North Carolina, between the Blue Ridge Mountains and the Atlantic Ocean. With fourteen full time faculty members, the Department of Criminal Justice serves approximately 400 undergraduate majors and 40 graduate students. Online degree completion is available at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. The Department seeks a committed scholar, exceptional teacher, and an energetic administrator capable of providing leadership for a vibrant and growing department engaged in a variety of innovative initiatives. Applicants must have a Ph.D. in criminal justice, criminology or a closely related field and demonstrate active disciplinary involvement including membership in the Academy of Criminal Justice Sciences and/or the American Society of Criminology. Salary and rank are negotiable and commensurate with qualifications and experience. Preference will be given to those candidates who have administrative experience, demonstrated publication record, and ability to obtain external funds.
