Welcome to the Department of Criminal Justice at Fayetteville State University. FSU has a long history of empowering people through education and is committed to developing learned and responsible citizens. The Department of Criminal Justice advances this mission in a number of ways. We offer a high quality program that is accredited by the Academy of Criminal Justice Sciences. Our department reflects the University Mission of offering opportunity to a range of diverse students in order for them to become intellectual leaders, prepared to contribute as effective change agents and global citizens. We offer a high quality program in an inclusive and supportive environment where faculty and staff are committed to helping each student achieve their potential. We believe the capability of our students is expressed in the ability of our graduates to move into professional positions in the criminal Justice system, graduate programs, and law schools.
Each of our faculty members has a strong commitment to student success. The faculty is composed of teacher scholars who are active researchers in the field. We are committed to research projects and theory construction that advance the knowledge of our field. Additionally, we participate in program evaluation and policy analysis that assist local, state and national criminal justice policy makers. The product of such initiatives is then incorporated in the classroom, enhancing the comprehensive learning community within the Department of Criminal Justice.
You will find Criminal Justice faculty members contributing on campus by their participation with the Center for Community Justice and Service Learning, the Bronco Men’s Learning Community, the Campus Military Outreach Taskforce, and the Cross Creek Early College Program. Faculty members are involved in the community with the FPD Community Wellness and Public Safety Council, The Dispute Resolution Center, and the Rape Crisis Volunteers of Cumberland County.
