Dr. Christina Amsterdam is an Adjunct Associate Professor in the Department of Educational Leadership in the School of Education at Fayetteville State University (FSU). Prior to joining FSU, she worked as a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Educational Management and Policy Studies in the Faculty of Education at the University of Pretoria in South Africa. She taught classes in research methodology, globalization and markets in education, education policy and finance, and discipline in schools. As dissertation chair or co-chair, she graduated one Ph. D. and five M.Ed. candidates. She continues to serve as dissertation chair for two Ph. D. candidates who have reached an advanced stage of their respective research projects.
She obtained a Ph. D. in Educational Administration K-12 with a concentration in Educational Policy Analysis and School Finance from the University of South Carolina-Columbia. Upon completion of her studies, she worked in the South Carolina Educational Policy Center (SCEPC) and Department of Educational Leadership and Policies (EDLP) at the University of South Carolina-Columbia. In the SECPC, she was member of a research team who conducted program evaluation studies and accountability research for the South Carolina legislature and Department of Education. She taught Supervision of Instruction to M.Ed. candidates and Theories of Educational Leadership to Ph. D. candidates in EDLP.
She has published on equity in education and principal leadership in internationally accredited journals and served as principal investigator of a research collaboration on principal leadership between the University of Pretoria and North East Normal University in the People's Republic of China. She consistently presents her research at international research conferences and currently teaches Organizational Development and Diversity for School Leaders and the Internship in Educational Leadership.
