Interests

Nicole A. McFarlane specializes in cultural rhetorics and digital humanities. She teaches professional and business writing with new media. Her research focuses on how emerging technologies mediate citizenship and compose spaces of color in the public sphere. 

Nicole has been invited to organize and facilitate workshops at the Conference on College Composition and Communication national convention by the National Council of Teachers of English Language Policy Committee to discuss Students Right to Their Own Language and digital rhetorics. 

Forthcoming scholarship includes articles for PRE/TEXT: A Journal of Rhetoric Theory and the College Composition and Communication journal. She is also publishing a book chapter on screen captions and African American English for an edited collection with Southern Illinois University Press.
