Procedures for Online Course Development
- Instructor meets with the Department Chair and discusses the course to be developed. If the chair approves the course, the developer will complete the Online Course Development Form available online at http://www.uncfsu.edu/conted/facultysupport/ and acquire appropriate signatures from the Chair and Dean. The completed form is forwarded to the Distance Education Office.
- The Distance Education Office will prepare the recommendation and fixed term contract for the four-month period. The contract will be prepared at the beginning and not the end of the development period (ie, January – April). The course must be developed prior to the beginning of the next semester that it is to be offered. There will be no more last minute developments. The contract will indicate the requirements which include acquiring the appropriate training through the CITL and developing the course.
- Pre-Conference: Developer will meet with the CITL staff to determine what assistance/training is needed (may include participating in an online course, assistance with course design, resources, AV tools, lecture notes, training, teaching online, pedagogy, using Blackboard, guidebook and instrument the review committee will use for evaluation and package the material).
- Course development: Developer will meet with the CITL throughout the development of the course based on CITL recommendations.
- Post-Conference: Developer completes the Principles of Good Practice Form available online at http://www.uncfsu.edu/conted/facultysupport/ and meets with CITL for a final review of the completed course.
- If CITL approval is received, Developer schedules the online course review with the committee which includes the Department Chair, Peer, Director CITL and Director of DE.
