Sustainability at Fayetteville State University (FSU) it is a shared responsibility and commitment between students, faculty, staff and the local community. At FSU we define sustainability as: "the forms of progress that meet the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their needs. Fayetteville State University helps students understand economic, social, and environmental elements of sustainability and prepares them to accept sustainable development values and norms as responsible global citizens." These triple bottom line (TBL) factors or pillars of sustainability (people, planet & profit) are what we focus on and those that our success is measured from. The Sustainability Coalition meets on the 2nd Thursday of January, April, July and October at 2:30 pm in the Chancellor's Conference Room in the Barber Building. We invite you to get involved with this group that oversees the Campus' sustainability efforts. If you are interested, please contact Jay Blauser, Director of Sustainability, at 910-672-1954 or hblauser@uncfsu.edu .

FSU diverted 1,288 tons of recyclable materials/items from the landfill in FY 2012 by recycling and reusing (Surplus Property Program) efforts! Our single stream program, that everyone participates in, diverted 52 tons, which includes flattened cardboard, paper, plastic and glass bottles, aluminum and steel cans. Our construction and demolition debris recycling efforts provided the majority of our tonnage from the construction of Renaissance Hall and the Science and Technology Building projects in FY 2012.

Note- all GHG Inventories and CAP-2012 can also be viewed online at FSU's ACUPCC Reporting Website.
