Dr. Juan Ma continues to build an effective sustainability program by developing innovative projects with the Office of Civic Engagement and Service Learning. The Sustainability & Energy Management Office, and community-based partners. Thus, making sustainability a part of the educational experience for all students to arm them with the knowledge and skills needed to navigate an increasingly challenging world tomorrow.

As a result of the training received from the Sustainable Sandhills, BIOL 350 students earned the certification as Green Business Certifiers with enabled them to renew the Green Business Certification processes for six (6) places, including four (4) Cumberland County Libraries, City of Fayetteville Department of Environmental Services and Fayetteville Area System of Transit (FAST) and also provided Green Business Action Plans to service places.

Dr. Malhotra and his students presented a draft of their GEOG 325 Applied Geographic Information Systems (GIS) project using geospatial technologies to create multidimensional and interactive detailed map of FSU, an effective and efficient navigation and location tool.
