Fayetteville State University Students Attend Leadership Summit in Florida

Date: February 06, 2020

On January 24, 2020, a delegation of eight Fayetteville State University (FSU) students from the Office of Cultural Programs and Safe Zone traveled to Tallahassee, Florida to attend the annual Multicultural Leadership Summit. This summit presented an opportunity for future leaders to network with future leaders from institutions in Florida and Georgia. These student leaders also had the opportunity to engage in powerful conversations about intersectionality, gender equality, equity, trends within multiculturalism, and most importantly how they plan to use the information that they acquired to enlighten their campus community.

One student leader stated that they enjoyed having the opportunity to converse with people from different lived experiences that were passionate about the same topics. Another participant stated that this summit challenged them to think about how the term "intersectionality" applied to them. 100% of the students that attended strongly agreed that the trip made a lasting impression on them. The students that attended the trip will be facilitating two campus wide programs based off topics that were discussed at the summit in March and April.
