If you plan to participate in the band, fill out the enclosed band application and return it to the band office immediately. This is necessary in order to make adequate meal and housing arrangements. If the band camp application is not returned, no arrangements will be made for you.

You are to be certain that you have submitted all information needed for your files in the OFFICE OF ADMISSION, FINANCIAL AID, AND HOUSING. All financial obligations to the university must be met before you arrive for band camp. However, arrangements can be made through STUDENT FINANCE AND COLLECTIONS, about deferred payment.

Please make sure that you adhere to the following conditions before reporting to band camp:

1.      Payment of fees to: (Residence Life for the entire school year) $125.00

2.      Dormitory permit slip

3.    Completed all admission requirements

4.    Statement of pre-existing medical conditions: If medical conditions exist that may cause any physical problems during band camp or the band season, please bring a statement from your family physician indicating whether this condition (s) will or will not interfere with your performance.

The Band camp fee for the 2009 fiscal school year is $200.00, nonrefundable. If paying by money order or personal check, it should be made payable to Fayetteville State University Band. This band camp accessory fee can be paid when you arrive for band camp or before band camp.

!!!EVERYONE MUST PAY THEIR BAND CAMP FEE. NO

EXCEPTIONS!!!

The official band shoe is a black military oxford shoe with a medium low quarter heel (for instrument players only). Formal or Flat bottom shoes are not acceptable. (!!No Boots will be allowed!!) All auxiliary will be required to purchase white boots, during camp.

Students who do not own their instruments can rent one from the university band. This year ALL BAND INSTRUMENTS furnished by the university band can be rented for a fee of $50.00 per academic year. The reason there is a fee for all instruments is because some students in the past have abused and damage them. The repair rate for those instruments is going steadily upward. The rental fee will ensure that we will have the funds to repair instruments when they need some repairing. Each student that checks out an instrument will be responsible for it if it is damage or destroyed in any manner. All additional mouthpieces can be purchased for $40.00 each and Percussion students will pay $25.00 for any additional sticks and drum heads that they might need.

"INITIATIONS AND HAZING PRACTICES ARE NOT ALLOWED IN THE FAYETTEVILLE STATE UNIVERSITY BAND. STUDENTS FOUND GUILTY OF VIOLATING THE RULES, REGULATIONS AND POLICIES OF THE BAND OR UNIVERSITY WILL BE SUSPENDED IMMEDIATELY."

In closing, please return the enclosed band camp application by July 22, 2009, so that we can turn in an accurate count for housing and food services. If we do not receive your form, it is possible that you will not have anywhere to stay, and you would not be able to eat in the cafeteria. If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact me at:
