Fifteen FSU incoming freshmen for the Fall semester participated in the 2013 RISE/ISAS Summer Enrichment Program(SEP), sponsored by the FSU Research Initiative for Scientific Enhancement (FSU-RISE) program & Integrated Stem for Academic Success (ISAS) Program.
Incoming college students who have expressed interest in pursuing degrees in any STEM field, may participate in a five-week Pre-Freshman Summer Enrichment Program (SEP) sponsored by FSU-RISE & ISAS. The goal of SEP is to prepare Pre-RISE Scholars for college-level biology, chemistry and math courses, and to stimulate their interests in pursuing research fields. Scholars engage in meaningful laboratory experiences involving hypothesis-driven, hands-on manipulation of biomolecules, and they participate in a range of math and science enrichment activities. Results from math placement exams are used to personalize the academic preparation of Scholars in math. Additionally, scholars complete a non-credit, online mini-course in biology to strengthen their problem-solving skills and knowledge of basic biology concepts. The program culminates with math, chemistry and biology presentations during the closing and awards banquet.
