Pre-Freshman Summer Enrichment Program (PFSEW)

Students Students Students

Incoming college students who have expressed interest in pursuing degrees in biology, chemistry or psychology may participate in a five-week Pre-Freshman Summer Enrichment
Workshop (PFSEW) sponsored by FSURISE. The goal of PFSEW is to prepare Pre-RISE Scholars for college-level biology and math courses, and to stimulate their interests in
pursuing research fields. Scholars engage in meaningful laboratory experiences involving hypothesis-driven, hands-on manipulation of biomolecules, and they participate in a range of math and science enrichment activities. Results from math placement exams are used to personalize the academic preparation of Pre-RISE Scholars in math. Additionally, Pre-
RISE Scholars complete a non-credit, online mini-course in biology to strengthen their problem-solving skills and knowledge of basic biology concepts. The workshop culminates with math and science presentations during the closing and awards banquet.
