The Fayetteville State Athletic Department will host an All Sports Cookout on
Saturday, August 23rd, at Luther "Nick" Jeralds Stadium (FSU football field). All of the FSU athletic teams (women’s basketball,
bowling, cross country, softball, tennis, and volleyball and men’s’ basketball,
cross country, football, and golf), athletic staff, and Chancellor James A.
Anderson will be available to meet and greet the campus and the community.
All spectator festivities will begin at 12 noon and is free to the public.
Local media outlets will have their chance to take photos of the 2008
Fayetteville State Football and Volleyball teams in
game-day uniforms from 9 a.m.–10:30 a.m.
At noon, Chancellor Anderson and Director of Athletics, Dr. Edward McLean, will
have welcoming ceremonies for all incoming and returning student-athletes, their
families, and the welcomed community. Each program, along with its
coaching staff, will be introduced in Olympic fashion.
Introductions of the football squad and coaching staff are scheduled to begin at
1:00 p.m., prior to a mock scrimmage.
This event will be a kick-off for the season opener which is on Sunday, August
31st, against the Eagles of North Carolina
Central University (NCCU). The Broncos will travel to Durham, NC to do battle
with NCCU in their "Labor Day Classic" on the
gridiron of O'Kelly-Riddick Stadium at 4:00 p.m.

the material. All grades are reported to make sure you have taken the
course. This course is mandated by OSHA and must be completed by all
campus employees by 10/30/2008.

The FSU family mourns the loss of Mrs. Iris R.
Hunt-Smith, former Director of Residence Life at Fayetteville State University
(1989-1996). Iris’ home-going celebration will take place on Tuesday,
August 26, 2008 in Willingboro, New Jersey. Services are entrusted to
May’s Funeral Home, 45 Pine Street, Willingboro, New Jersey 08046.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you make a donation in Iris’ name to
the Lupus Foundation or MS Foundation. Cards and acknowledgments of

Head Cross Country Coach, Deron Norwood, will hold an interest meeting on
Monday, August 25, at 5 p.m. The meeting will take place on the second
floor of Capel Arena in the lounge area.
This is an opportunity for FSU students to express their interest in being a
part of the 2008 Cross Country Team.
