INTERNATIONAL VOICES
Fulbright Scholars and Visiting International Faculty Share Their Experiences

from Bobby Wynn, Chesnutt Library

Fayetteville/Cumberland County – A week long lectures series will highlight the international nature of our community.

Throughout “International Voices and Perspectives,” a cross section of Fayetteville State University Fulbright Scholars and Cumberland County Schools’ Visiting International Faculty (VIF) teachers will share experiences growing up in their home country.  They will also reflect upon what their opportunities in America mean to them.  The event was planned to compliment the 30th Annual International Folk Festival, which is produced by the Arts Council of Fayetteville/Cumberland County.

“International Voices and Perspectives” is produced by members of the Diversity task force of Cultural Connections, the Fayetteville Area Convention & Visitors Bureau’s (FACVB) task force devoted to developing and presenting the cultural heritage of our community.  “The Diversity task force looked for an opportunity to highlight the international perspectives that are part of our community of history, heroes and a hometown feeling,” said Ron McElrath, Co-Chair of the committee.  “And we couldn’t think of a better time to offer this programming than just prior to the International Folk Festival.”
