Kestner First FSU Offensive Lineman to be Honored

from Lamont Hinson, Sports Information Office

Hampton, VA - The Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) named Fayetteville State University center Dillon Kestner the Offensive Lineman of the Week for the week ending September 29, 2008.

Kestner, a sophomore from Durham, NC, helped pave the way for the Broncos to rack up 411 total offensive yards (238 rushing and 173 passing) in their 23-13 victory against Virginia State University this past weekend.

Kestner was a vital part of the Broncos’ final scoring drive.  FSU ran 14 plays, marched 99 yards, and absorbed a little less than seven minutes off the clock on their way to the game sealing touchdown. 62 of the 99 yards came from the ground attack.  The running backs twice utilized the middle of the field on draw plays for big yardage and to convert first downs on the drive.

The Broncos are currently ranked first in total offense (averaging 393.2 yards per game), first downs (averaging 20.4 per game), and third down conversion, with a 47.9 conversion percentage (35-of-73).
