Across Langdon Street from the main FSU campus is a special fire station for the City of Fayetteville. Fire Station 14 houses Engine 14 and Rescue 14, and it has a full complement of well-trained firefighters to serve the area within a three-mile radius of its location. This fire station is special because it also has the capability to house up to 21 fire science students for active-response internship experiences. In addition to the dormitory space for interns, FS 14 also has state-of-the-art classroom space that can be used to provide training to fire service interns as well as in-service firefighters between calls. As the Fire Science Program grows from the degree-completion phase from which we began into a dual-enrollment program with students participating in courses on the FSU campus and at Fayetteville Technical Community College at the same time, Fire Station 14 will become a valuable asset to the Fire Science Program.
