Dr. Doreen B. Hilton became the Assistant Dean of the Graduate School in October 2008. She first joined the faculty at FSU in 1986. She served as Chair of the Psychology Department at FSU from 1998 until 2004 and Chair of the Psychology Department at Mount Olive College from 1995-1996. Prior to her current position, she served in counseling, supervisory, and administrative positions at university counseling centers, mental health centers, and prisons. Her current research focuses on the attitudes and risky behaviors of young adults and on African American father roles and responsibilities. She is a graduate of Johnson C. Smith University (B.A. in Psychology) and The Ohio State University, where she earned a M.A. and Ph.D. in Counseling Psychology. She is passionate about mentoring college students and regularly takes students to conferences and involves them in her research projects. She is the proud mother of a daughter, Erica , a student at Johnson C. Smith University.
