Tuition and Fees

Rates for tuition and fees are established by the North Carolina General Assembly, the University of North Carolina, the President of the University of North Carolina, and Fayetteville State University. The university reserves the right to change fees and expenses without prior notice to the students or the general public. Prior notification of change will be provided whenever possible.

The tuition and fees include state tuition (in-state and out-of-state rates), activities and service fees. Room and board fees are charged as a separate fee for all students who reside on campus. In addition to these basic fees, other fees and expenses may be charged to students from special services.

Since the tuition and fees are subject to change each year, the actual fees are not included in this publication. A copy of the current rates may be obtained by contacting the Casher’s Office at (910) 672-1155.

Method of Payment

Payments of tuition, fees, and room and board charges are due at the time of registration. In the Fall and Spring semesters, all students must at least make an initial payment when they register for classes. Any student whose bill is not paid in full at registration must have the bill paid in full by September 15 or February 15, respectively, or enroll in the university’s monthly payment plan.

Students who have received their financial aid award letters may use these funds to make this initial payment. Those planning to receive financial aid, but who have not yet received award letters, must make this initial payment from other resources. Further information for the installment payment plan may be obtained from the Office of Business and Finance. You may reach the Business Office by calling (910) 672-1155.

In the university summer sessions, the installment plan is not available. Students must pay tuition, fees, and room and board charges in full at the time of registration!

Graduate Assistantships

A limited number of assistantships are available to qualified graduate students. Applications for assistantships may be picked up in the Office of Graduate Studies, the Continuing Education Building, or call (910) 672-1498.

Financial Aid

Fayetteville State University seeks to assure that no qualified student will be denied the opportunity to attend this university because of a lack of financial resources. The Office of Financial Aid, located on the lower floor of the Barber Building, provides information and assistance to students applying for financial aid. During the academic year, Financial Aid counselors are available from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm, Monday through Friday, to assist students and parents. Inquiries about financial aid should be directed to:
