Fayetteville State University will observe the 2009 holidays as indicated below. The Office of Human Resources is responsible for the distribution of the current University Holiday Schedule to all offices/departments.

*July 3, 2009 will be used as furlough leave. The Independence Day holiday will be moved to Monday, December 28, 2009.

VETERAN'S DAY 2009

The University will observe Veteran’s Day on Wednesday, November 11, 2009.

CHRISTMAS HOLIDAY 2009

**The University will be closed Monday, December 21, 2009 through Friday, December 25, 2009 in observance of the Christmas holiday. ***Additionally, the University will be closed Monday, December 28, 2009 to observe Independence Day. The University will resume normal operations on Tuesday, December 29, 2009.

All SPA and EPA non-teaching employees will be expected to use accrued time (vacation, compensatory time, bonus leave, or leave without pay) to cover the three days the University is closed, December 21, 22 and 23, 2009.

NEW YEAR'S HOLIDAY 2010

The University will be closed on Friday, January 1, 2010 in observance of New Year’s Day.

HOLIDAY PREMIUM PAY

Employees who are required to work on scheduled holidays shall be given, in addition to their regular salary, premium pay equal to one-half of their regular straight time rate for hours on these days, and shall be given equivalent time off on a date approved by the department head.

PART-TIME & TEMPORARY EMPLOYEES

Permanent part-time employees receive holidays on a prorated basis. Temporary employees are not eligible for paid holidays.
