A Message from the Vice Chancellor for Institutional Advancement
Arthur G. Affleck, JD
I am pleased to welcome you to the Institutional Advancement website. As Vice Chancellor for Institutional Advancement, I am privileged to oversee the division's wide range of programs and activities designed to achieve broad levels of support — financial, political, and public — for the goals and priorities of Fayetteville State University.
This division is specifically charged with attracting private sector resources to support the primary mission of FSU which is “to provide students with the highest quality learning experiences that will produce global citizens and leaders as change agents for shaping the future of the state.” My colleagues and I work to provide the framework for building strong support and lasting relationships with a variety of constituencies, including students, alumni, community members, donors, lawmakers, the media, parents, and friends.
With state funds accounting for a steadily declining portion of the total campus budget, supporting FSU’s efforts to raise funds from private sources is a goal shared across the division and, indeed, the university. Private contributions are enabling the university to provide scholarships to students who, otherwise, would not be able to enroll at FSU. It helps us to recruit the best and brightest faculty members to FSU to teach and mentor our students. Private support also allows us to maintain our beautiful campus so that it will continue to be inviting to visitors and an inspiration to those who study, teach, and work at FSU.
I am pleased to report that, under the leadership of Chancellor James Anderson, we are succeeding. We are pleased to be joined in this important work by two key partners, the FSU Foundation and the FSU National Alumni Association. We hope that you will be inspired to support FSU with your time, talents and treasure.
