The Summer Institute for International Education will provide expert instruction by experienced faculty in relevant subject areas that are pertinent to the learning experience of international students. Small group, focused instruction will be provided while allowing for inter-cultural interactions leading to an enhanced learning experience. Subject areas covered will include the below and additional ones.
International Business: Covering international business models, ethics, entrepreneurship and leadership, and capitalism. Hands on experience in preparing resumes and cover letters. Opportunity to experience the Trading Room.
American History and Culture: American heritage, government, geography, history and media. Understanding American customs and language use.
College and higher education fundamentals: Selecting a university for higher education, understanding the application process, and hands on experience in writing a personal statement.
Service Learning: The Office of Civic Engagement and Service Learning at Fayetteville State University provides a hands-on service learning experience at diverse locations in the community.
SIIS 2013 international student groups after a service learning opportunity at a local Boys and Girls club for disadvantaged youth.

International students participating in the Summer Institute for International Students will receive six (6) continuing education credits and certification upon successful completion of coursework. Certificates will be awarded for the service learning and trading room activities.
