The social and extracurricular activities on a campus play an important part in making a more complete educational experience, and technology can play an important role in creating and managing these social communities. Therefore, it is important to understand and appreciate the tools that facilitate electronic communities on campus, allowing for greater communication, interaction, and integration within the broad campus milieu.

What percentage of students on this campus have full-time use of personal computers?

All FSU students have access to a variety of campus computers. Student computers are available in open use computer labs, discipline-specific labs, and selected computer classrooms.

What is the ratio of public access computers to undergraduate enrollment?

Undergraduate students have access to 195 computers in open use labs and residence halls, and an additional 425 in computer class rooms. The ratio of public access computers to undergraduate enrollment is approximately one computer for every seven students.
 
What percentage of students use e-mail and other software applications on a regular basis?

All FSU students have an e-mail account.
 
Does the campus allow personal student Web pages?

Personal student web pages are not available at this time.

Is contact information for students, faculty, and staff readily accessible electronically?

A staff and faculty directory is available from  the Office of Human Resources as well as in the Global Address Book in Outlook. Students were added to the Address Book during the summer of 2003.
 
 
Is there a campus code of behavior for use of computing resources?

Yes, it is published on the web.

What social activities and services are available over the Web?

Information about college events, sports, and many other activities is accessible through our web site.
 
 
Are there Web sites for student organizations and clubs, and are these linked to the campus home page?

Yes, websites are available for clubs and organizations.
