To Turn on the Video Projector:
To turn the projector on, find the grey “On” button on the control panel and push it (refer to the picture above). By pressing this button you not only turn the projector on, you enable the screen to drop into position. Do not touch the screen until it has completely dropped.
To turn the projector off, find the grey “Off” button on the control panel and push it (refer to the picture above). This will automatically raise the screen out of view. Do not touch the screen as it rises.
To View the Computer via the Projector:
Note: First turn the Video Projector on. To do this, see above.
With the computer on locate the grey button on the control panel below the word “Computer” and press it (refer to the picture above). This switches the projector’s input to the computer. As a common courtesy, before you leave the SMART Classroom, press this button as the default. Log in as usual to use the computer’s programs.
To View the Document Camera:
First, turn the document camera on. The power switch will either be located on the same side of the podium as you are standing or the opposite side. Once on adjust the arms of the lights and the lens to best view your documents. On the control panel locate the grey button below the words “Document Camera” and push it. This selects the document camera as the projector’s input. When finished using the document camera PLEASE turn it off in an effort to preserve the bulb life. Thank you in advance.
To Play & View a Videotape:
Note: There is no remote for the VCR – its controls are located on the far right side of the control panel. See above.
Locate the VCR in the podium (usually on the second or third shelf). Turn it on if it is not on already. Looking back at the control panel find the grey button below the letters “VCR” and push it. This switches the projector’s input to the VCR. Use the VCR as usual. As a common courtesy, before you leave the SMART Classroom, press the button labeled “Computer.”
Locate the grey button on the control panel below the phrase “S-Video” and press it (refer to the picture above). This switches the projector’s input to the S-Video controls. Plug your corresponding wires for audio and/or video into the ports to the right of the volume controls. Turn your video source on.
Connect your laptop to the control panel via the bottom black “Audio” and “VGA” ports, located to the right of the volume controls. Keep "Computer" selected on the control panel. To project an image from your laptop through the projector use the following keystrokes from the podium computer: Scroll Lock, Scroll Lock, 2. To return to displaying the main PC use the following keystrokes from the podium computer: Scroll Lock, Scroll Lock, 1.
To Control the Sound Level:
Note: There are multiple volume controls due to multiple sound sources (Computer, VCR, Microphones, S-Video). Before calling the Help Desk check both the main volume control for the speakers on the Sympodium control panel, AND the volume control on the device you are using (Computer, VCR, Amplifier, or S-Video). If using the Computer also check the program’s volume control that you are using (Windows Media Player, QuickTime, WinDVD, etc.).
The amplifier should always be on; if it is not, locate it (usually on the second or third shelf) and press its Power button. To control the volume of the wall and/or ceiling mounted speakers press the “^” or “v” grey buttons under “Volume” on the control panel. The lights to the right will turn on or off in correlation to the selected volume.
