Our Mission

The Department of World Languages and Cultures strives to contribute to the liberal arts education of all students. Through the written and oral components of its courses, the Department seeks to improve the global readiness of students in southeastern North Carolina and beyond, preparing them to communicate effectively in other languages and across cultures in the region and around the globe.

Our Department

The Department of World Languages and Cultures (WLC) is home to FSU's traditional and critical foreign languages. The department houses traditional foreign languages such as Spanish and French; as well as critical languages like Chinese and Yoruba, and occasional offerings of Arabic, Hindi, Urdu, and Kiswahili.>> Read More

Our Courses

Our course offerings prepare students for the 21st century job market by training them to become critical thinkers and global citizens through the learning of languages and cultures from around the world.

Language Lab

Our state of the art language lab has all the software and resources for language learning that you need to become more proficient in all the foreign languages we offer.
