Include the following text in your course syllabi to inform students about the Writing Center's services:

University College Writing Center
Helen T. Chick Building (Basement)

The University College Writing Center provides a safe and comfortable writing community where students, freshman to graduate level, can get feedback on their work during any stage of the writing process. The Writing Center's trained professional and peer tutors work with students and help with strategies for getting started, developing ideas, clarifying, proofreading, and documenting sources. By offering one-on-one consultations, we focus not on correcting students' work, but on helping the student find ways to improve the assignment at hand. In the process, the Writing Center's goal is to help develop more confident writers. To get the most out of the Writing Center's services, schedule a 45-minute appointment far enough before the due date to allow ample time for revision. You may schedule an appointment by phone or by coming in and speaking with the lab manager. Walk-in consultations are available, but only those with an appointment are guaranteed service. Contact the Writing Center to learn more about becoming a tutor. We welcome undergraduate and graduate students from all majors.
