Service Description
Supplemental Instruction: Supplemental Instruction (SI) is an academic support program that targets historically dificult courses. SI is a non-remedial approach to learning enrichment that increases student performance and retention. SI offers regurlarly scheduled, out-of-class review sessions to all students enrolled in a targeted course. SI study sessions are informal seminars in which students review notes, discuss readings, develop organizational tools and prepare for examinations. Students learn how to integrate course content with reasoning and study skills.
Reading: College Reading and Integrated Study Skills (CRISS) Lab provides individualized classroom instruction and computer-assisted instructional activities designed to enhance reading and study skills. For UNIV 101 and 102.
Writing: The Writing Center is an essential component in the team effort to build writing skills for any course through individual writing conferences, writing-related resources, working with instructors, and helping students help themselves.
Math: The Math Lab is an appointment-based, one-on-one and group tutoring service available to all Fayetteville State University students with priority given to incoming freshmans. Priority is given to students who are enrolled in Math 121 & 123.

Goals
Goal#1 To improve first-year students' preparation for university-level study.
Goal#2 To meet the goals for Retention and Graduation rates as set by university student success plan.
Goal#3 To reduce the number of courses with high rates (in excess of 30%) of D, F, W final grades.
Goal#4 To ensure that programs and instruction at FSU "add value" to student learning.
Goal#5 To provide effective advisement and academic support for at-risk students.
