Dr. Inder P Nijhawan, Professor of Economics, received his PhD from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill with a concentration in planning and economic development. He has authored over 30 scholarly papers and received three distinguished research paper awards. He has conducted over 500 workshops and seminars on a variety of economic education topics. He frequently consults with the North Carolina State Department of Public Instruction on curriculum development and economics test items. He serves on the Board of Directors of the North Carolina Council on Economic Education and Faces in Our Community. He is actively involved in the outreach activities within the community. He has served on the Steering Committees of the Greater Fayetteville Future Project and the Pathways to Possibilities Economic Development Plan. He has coauthored numerous studies. Some of the recent studies include: Economic Disparity in the Cape Fear Region 1990-2005; DOD Fort Bragg/Pope Air Force Base P2 Green Procurement Project for Six county region: Cumberland, Hoke, Moore, Richmond and Scotland; A National Study of the Effectiveness and Understanding of the Industry Specific Regulatory Laws and Demographic Changes in the Elderly Population and Their Impact on the Economy of Cumberland County
