I. SMALL BUSINESS &
TECHNOLOGY DEVELOPMENT CENTER (SBTDC) GRADUATE BUSINESS COMPETITIONS
Purpose-
Two-to-five-member teams from graduate business students in North
Carolina’s public and private business schools serve as management
consultants to local companies in their respective service areas.
Each team is expected to identify and analyze problems confronting
the company and recommend solutions to management. Evaluation is
based on the quality of written report and an oral presentation that
each team makes to a panel of judges. Normally between 12-20 teams
from leading business schools in
North Carolina
participate in this competition. (Max two teams from each
participating school)

II. SMALL BUSINESS
INSTITUTE DIRECTORS’ ASSOCIATION (SBIDA) GRADUATE BUSINESS CASE
COMPETITION
Purpose: The Small
Business Institute Directors' Association (SBIDA) sponsors the SBIDA
Case of the Year Competition to recognize outstanding student work
on field cases. Any college or university conducting field cases may
enter student case reports in this competition. Each team is
expected to identify and analyze problems confronting an assigned
company and recommend solutions to management. Evaluation is based
on the quality of written report.

III. NATIONAL BLACK
MBA ASSOCIATION (NBMBAA) STUDENT CASE COMPETITION
Purpose: This competition provides students an opportunity to
demonstrate their knowledge, problem-solving skills, analytical
proficiency, and presentation abilities to corporate executives
judging the competition. While judging student case competitions
corporate sponsors are able to observe first hand a potential
employee's ability to solve common business problems and demonstrate
leadership ability, which leads to improved employment opportunities
for students.

IV. OPPORTUNITY
FUNDING CORPORATION (OFC) VENTURE CHALLENGE CHAMPIONSHIP
Purpose: This
competition is intended to foster the entrepreneurial spirit,
encourage development of innovative service or product concepts, and
develop business leaders who aggressively pursue excellence, are
fearless strategists and are committed to building effective
organizations. The OFC Venture Challenge is open to the nation's
HBCUs that offer graduate programs in business. Each team is
expected to prepare an original business plan and presents the plan
to venture capitalists, many of whom are ready to invest. This
program has so far generated more than $266 million in capital and
financing for hundreds of minority-owned organizations.

Purpose: This statewide
competition that is intended to foster entrepreneurial spirit among
undergraduate and graduate students. Participating teams are
expected to prepare and present an original business plan and make a
formal presentation to a panel of venture capitalists and other
experts.
