May 6-21, 2005

May 6 Leave RDU for Chicago, then Beijing, China 
May 7 Arrive in Beijing.  Check-in to Guangzhou Hotel (4-star). Tour of the city. (Lunch & dinner included)
May 8 Tour of Great Wall & the Underground Palace Tombs.  (Lunch & dinner included)
May 9 Morning: Tour of Tiananmen Square and Forbidden City.
  Afternoon: Tour of Temple of Heaven.  (Lunch included)
  Evening: Experience the Chinese Opera (Beijing Opera).  (Dinner included)
May 10 Morning: Tour of Summer Palace.  (Lunch included).
  Afternoon: Old Beijing Living Area.  A ride on the famous Tri-Cycle.
  Dinner: Experience the cuisine once enjoyed by the Dynasties. Tantalize your taste buds with savory Beijing Roast Duck at the famous Quanjude Restaurant
May 11 Shopping Day.  (Lunch & dinner included)
  Night: Train to Hangzhou.  (Sleeping compartment accommodates 4 persons/cabin.)  
May 12 Arrive in Hangzhou in the morning. Check-in to Yuanyan Hotel (4-star).
  Boat ride on West Lake to see the exotic fish.   (Lunch & dinner included)
May 13 Tour of Shaoyifu Hospital.  Attend a conference with hospital administrators and physicians. Observe first-hand how East meets West in this joint-venture of an American-managed facility.   (Lunch & dinner included) 
May 14 A visit to 1 or 2 types of manufacturers:  Wanxiang Group (auto-parts industry) and/or the Wahaha Group (food industry).  Learn how these companies have developed from humble small houses to corporate manufacturers.  You will have the opportunity to see the labs and the products, as well as learn about the history, current trends and future trends.  (Lunch and dinner included)
May 15 City Tour lets you see such attractions as the Lingying Temple, the Liuhe Pagoda and the Qiantang River. 
May 16 Visit to the Green Tea Gardens.  An experiential experience on a tea farm awaits you.  Meet the farmer (owners) and be their guests as you learn about  the lucrative tea business literally from the ground up.  (Lunch and dinner included)
May 17 Tour the Hangzhou History Museum, then visit Ming-Qing Street and experience a veritable blend of architectural styles and designs of both dynasties.  End the day shopping at the famous Silk Market (Lunch and dinner included)
May 18 Road trip to Shanghai.  Check-in Yuanyang Hotel (4-star). Tour Shanghai’s Old City, located west of the river, see the famous Yu Garden, and shop at the famous boutiques.   (Lunch and dinner included)
May 19 Visit East China University of Science and Technology.   In the morning and early afternoon, attend a seminar on Chinese Economy.   In the afternoon, you will have the opportunity to shop at the famous Xiangyang Road market. (Lunch and dinner included) 
May 20 Visit the modern eastern part of Shanghai.  See the Eastern Pearl Tower in all its glory.
May 21 Going back home!  Bus to Shanghai International Airport.  Leave Shanghai for Chicago, then RDU.
